Welcome, I am Maria Reichert
Veterinarian turned Artist.
Veterinarian turned Artist.
-Not your typical artist bio, my education includes a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science from The University of New Hampshire, followed by a Degree in Veterinary Medicine (DVM), from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
-Many moons ago I jumped out of an airplane with college friends, and spent a beautiful summer varnishing sailboats in Newport, Rhode Island. I was once lucky enough to catch the rare sight of the Northern Lights in Durham, New Hampshire.
-One year out of vet school, I opened a small animal veterinary practice and shared those years with both wonderful employees and clients. I sold the practice to focus on raising my family.
-I currently have an amazing and handsome husband who works as an equine veterinarian, we met many years ago in vet school. I have two grown children, a crazy, rescued Australian Shepherd/ Border Collie Mix, and just the sweetest old sorrel Quarter Horse, that my daughter used to ride and show in his younger days.
-I have always loved to draw and paint, I am self taught aside from a drawing class I took in undergrad, but I try to learn something new everyday, from books and video, and workshops. I have filled more sketchbooks than I can count, may be my favorite thing to do .
-I am currently painting in watercolor and oil paint and feel so fortunate to paint many pet portraits for others. I have a special fondness for painting pet memorials and find it an honor to capture the heart of a loved and missed pet on canvas or paper.
Questions for me? Please let me know.
